Emplacement et comment s'y rendre

Esteros del Iberá is a vast wetland reserve in northeastern Argentina, primarily located in the province of Corrientes. The main access points are the towns of Colonia Carlos Pellegrini (the gateway to the Iberá wetlands) and Ituzaingó. There is no single address, as the reserve spans over 1.3 million hectares.

  • By Air: The nearest airports are in Posadas (for the southern sector) and Resistencia (for the northern sector), both with connections to Buenos Aires.
  • By Road: From Posadas or Resistencia, visitors can take buses or rent a car to Colonia Carlos Pellegrini (a 4-5 hour drive). Roads may be unpaved, so a 4x4 vehicle is advisable.
  • By Bus: Direct buses run from Mercedes (Corrientes) to Colonia Carlos Pellegrini, taking approximately 3 hours.

Heures d'ouverture et billets

The reserve is open year-round, but access to certain areas may depend on weather conditions. There is no entrance fee for the wetlands themselves, but guided tours and boat excursions require payment.

  • Guided Tours: Prices vary by operator; book in advance during peak seasons (October to March).
  • Independent Visits: Free, but hiring a local guide is recommended for wildlife spotting.

Meilleur moment pour visiter

The wetlands are lush and vibrant from October to April (wet season), ideal for birdwatching. The dry season (May to September) offers easier wildlife spotting as animals gather around remaining water sources. Early mornings and late afternoons are best for photography and animal activity.

A minimum of 2-3 days is recommended to fully experience the wetlands, including boat tours, hiking, and wildlife observation. Day trips are possible but limit exploration.
