Kuelap

Kuelap is an ancient fortress located in the cloud forests of northern Peru, near the town of Chachapoyas in the Amazonas region. While often associated with Cajamarca due to proximity, it is approximately a 3-hour drive from Chachapoyas, the nearest major hub.

- From Chachapoyas: The most common route is by road. Shared colectivos or private tours are available, taking roughly 3 hours via the Tingo–Kuelap route.
- By Cable Car: The Telecabinas Kuelap, a gondola system, offers a scenic 20-minute ride from Nuevo Tingo to the site, followed by a short walk.
- From Cajamarca: A longer journey (6–7 hours by car) is required, often with an overnight stay in Chachapoyas recommended.
