Malinalco is a picturesque town in the State of México, approximately 100 kilometers southwest of Mexico City. The archaeological site, known as the Cuauhtinchan or Cerro de los Ídolos, is perched on a hillside overlooking the town.

From Mexico City, take a bus from Terminal Poniente (Observatorio) to Chalma or Tenancingo, with a stop in Malinalco. The journey takes about 2.5 hours. Alternatively, driving via Highway 15 and then Highway 55 offers scenic views. Taxis or local colectivos are available from the town center to the archaeological site.

  • Hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (last entry at 4:30 PM). Closed on Mondays.
  • Entrance Fee: Approximately 85 MXN (free for Mexican citizens on Sundays). Tickets are purchased at the site.
