Nauyaca Waterfalls is located approximately 15 kilometers inland from Dominical in Costa Rica's Southern Zone (Zona Sur). The precise address is not always clearly marked, but the falls are accessible via a well-known dirt road off the Costanera Highway (Route 34). From Dominical, follow signs for "Cataratas Nauyaca" or "Rancho Don Lulo," a local tour operator offering transportation to the site.
- By Car: A 4x4 vehicle is recommended, especially in the rainy season (May–November), as the road can be rough.
- By Tour: Many visitors opt for guided tours from Dominical or Uvita, which often include transportation.
- By Foot: A 4-kilometer hike (about 1.5–2 hours) is required from the parking area to the falls.
Heures d'ouverture et billets
The waterfalls are open daily from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with last entry typically at 2:00 PM to allow time for the hike. Hours may vary slightly during the rainy season.
- Entrance Fee: Around $10–$15 USD per person, payable at the gate. Cash is preferred.
- Tours: Horseback riding or guided hikes can be arranged through Rancho Don Lulo for an additional fee.
Meilleur moment pour visiter
Early mornings (7:00–9:00 AM) are ideal to avoid crowds and enjoy the falls in softer light. The dry season (December–April) offers clearer trails, while the rainy season (May–November) brings fuller, more dramatic waterfalls but potentially muddy paths.
