Palo Verde National Park is situated in the Guanacaste Region of Costa Rica, approximately 30 kilometers west of the town of Bagaces. The park lies along the Tempisque River, near the Gulf of Nicoya. From Liberia, the nearest major city, it is about a 1.5-hour drive via Route 1 (Pan-American Highway) and Route 18.

  • By Car: The most convenient option. From Liberia, take Route 1 south toward Bagaces, then follow signs to the park entrance.
  • By Public Transport: Buses run from Liberia to Bagaces, but onward travel to the park requires a taxi or guided tour.
  • Guided Tours: Many operators in Liberia or nearby towns offer day trips, including boat tours on the Tempisque River.
