Colombia: Visa & Entry Rules
Navigate Colombia's entry requirements, visa types, and customs procedures with ease.
Visa to travel to Colombia
For a stay of less than 90 days, no visa is required for citizens of the United States, member states of the European Union, or for Swiss citizens.
A valid passport is required to return to Colombia, which must be valid for 6 months beyond the date of return.
A 90-day visa will be issued automatically upon arrival in the country.
On the other hand, citizens from Africa do need a special visa to enter Colombia and need to apply for it only at https://www.migracioncolombia.gov.co
Check Mig Resgitration
Although not as strictly enforced as during the COVID era, Colombia still mandates the completion of the Check-Mig form within 72 hours prior to arrival and departure. The process is straightforward, requesting only basic information. While it may be permissible to lack this documentation, possessing it undoubtedly streamlines both entry and exit procedures.

Arriving in Colombia
Immigration Procedures at Ports of Entry
Upon arrival in Colombia, sometimes they ask for the name and address of our first hotel, so make sure to have the address easily accessible when going through the customs
It is also important to remember that in order to enter the country, it is mandatory to have an exit ticket from the country.
Your plane ticket may be requested by an agent at the airport.
Customs Regulations
Colombia is protective of its biodiversity. So, if you’re thinking of smuggling in your exotic pet snake, think again. Stick to the rules, and you’ll be fine.
ATM and money exchange
ATMs and currency exchange booths are available at the airport. However, it is typically more beneficial to withdraw funds using a debit card, as the exchange booths often provide less favorable rates.
There is a Servibanca ATM right next to the currency exchange offices where you pick up your luggage. It’s the bank that offers the lowest banking fees in Colombia, and the highest withdrawal limit (2,000,000 COP compared to 600,000 for other banks).
Extending Your Stay in Colombia
Renewing Your Visa
