Very difficult but beautiful hike. We did it during a light rainfall, climbing on very slippery rocks using hands and feet. Slippery even in premium hiking shoes. Nordic walking rods can help a lot. Do not take the loop hike – reach the waterfall the shortest way and climb back the same route. We tried coming back on the other route but got stopped by thick vegetation. No cell phone reception in the valley!

Very difficult hike, hard to find, follow the blue signs and stay near the river. When unsure go right not left. Takes about 45minutes. We visited there for 2 hours and were completely alone. Take swimsuits, clean water but super cold. MUST HAVE HIKING SHOES. Fell like 5 times even with good hiking shoes. Not for children and elderly. Best thing we did on madeira, super romantic, without turists must see!!!
