Embark on an unforgettable 7-day photography adventure on the enchanting Madeira Island, a paradise designed by nature for photographers. This tour, crafted with the keen eye of a seasoned photographer, promises to capture the islandâs diverse beauty from sunrise to sunset. Our journey begins and ends in Santa Cruz, near the vibrant city of Funchal, but the magic lies in the destinations we explore in between.
Weâll delve into the mystical Fanal forest, visiting twice to maximize our chances of capturing its ethereal beauty. In Santana, the iconic traditional houses offer a picturesque glimpse into Madeiraâs rich heritage. Our sunsets will be spectacular from Pico Ruivo, the islandâs highest peak, where weâll have two opportunities to frame the perfect shot. Seixalâs panoramic views and unique swimming pools, alongside the breathtaking seascapes of Porto Moniz, provide endless inspiration. As dawn breaks, weâll be at Ribeira da Janela, ready to capture the first light over the dramatic coastline, and at Miradouro do Guindaste for another stunning sunrise. Finally, the rugged cliffs and sweeping views at Ponta SĂŁo Lourenço will be the perfect grand finale to our photographic journey. This tour is uniquely crafted in collaboration with my friend Mathieu, a fellow photographer and travel expert who has lived in Madeira for 5 years. Together, we've combined my fresh scouting insights with his deep, intimate knowledge of the island's hidden gems, best viewpoints, and fantastic local restaurants. Our joint expertise ensures an itinerary rich in photographic opportunities. Fluent in Portuguese from two years living in Brazil, I'm excited to guide you smoothly through Madeira's stunning landscapes and vibrant culture.

Authentic and well organized expedition in an indigenous tribe

The Luminous Journeys âVIVA Colombiaâ trip was fantastic for photographic opportunities in a country that is still largely unexplored by travel photographers. Tristan was an enthusiastic leader offering insights into his creative approach to photographing Colombia, including its indigenous peoples. His patient and sensitive approach dealing with locals allowed participants learn and appreciate Colombiaâs many diverse customs. There was a good balance between street & culture photography, nature/tropical birds, and landscapes.
In addition, Tristanâs willingness to help participants with the technical and artistic aspects of photography was greatly appreciated. Plus heâs just great fun! The trip was well organized and the hotels and food were superb. Overall, Viva Colombia! provided diverse photographic opportunities that would have broad appeal to photography enthusiasts looking for untrammeled travel adventure in a fascinating South American country.Highly recommended!
A Compassionate Journey with Tristan
As the wife of a photographer, Iâve gone a half dozen photo tours. I try to make them my own and usually am successful in doing so. If I had to pinpoint anything that made the trip successful, it would be Tristanâs humanity shown so many times in the way he treated participants and native
Colombians. Visiting native tribes (not painted-face imposters) was a treat for me and my iPhone camera. Tristan planned well, explained things in detail and also found local experts who taught a great deal.
