Altitude, Weather and Travel Rhythm
The route moves from dry coastal air to high Andean plateaus, where strong sun, cold mornings and sudden weather changes are possible. Travel days can be long, especially where roads cross the mountains or the altiplano.
Layer clothing, drink regularly and allow the day to unfold at a steady pace. Flexibility helps when weather, road conditions or local timing changes the programme.
Acclimatization in the Andes
Altitude becomes part of the journey around Colca, Lake Titicaca, Cusco and the Bolivian altiplano. The itinerary builds these transitions into a broader route, but people respond differently to elevation.
Walk gently at first, rest when needed and tell the guide promptly about headaches, breathlessness or unusual fatigue. Seek professional travel-health advice before departure if you have relevant concerns.
Respecting Living Cultures and Sacred Places
The route passes through places that are both culturally important and part of everyday life. Ask before photographing people, follow local guidance and approach markets, villages and ceremonies with discretion.

- Deposit: A 30% deposit is required to secure your booking. This deposit is refundable for 7 days (less transaction fees), after which it becomes a non-refundable credit, transferable to a future tour offered by Remote Expeditions within 4 years of the cancellation date, less any non-recoverable costs already paid on your behalf.
- Final Payment: The remaining balance is due 90 days before the tour begins.
- Cancellation more than 90 days before departure: You will receive a full refund of any payments made, except for the 30% deposit. Your deposit will be converted into a travel credit valid for 4 years on a future tour Remote Expeditions.
- Cancellation within 90 days of departure: 100% of the tour price is forfeited. There are no refunds or credits.
