    An early start around Aymara Lodge, where the gardens and surrounding forest often offer excellent photographic opportunities before the day warms up. Hyacinth Macaws are regular visitors, alongside toucans, parrots, woodpeckers, and a changing cast of Pantanal birdlife. After breakfast, we continue exploring the nearby stretches of the Transpantaneira, stopping whenever wildlife or the light invites us to slow down.

    After a break during the hottest hours, we return to the Transpantaneira Road, one of the Pantanal’s richest wildlife corridors. Jabirus and Maguari Storks are often seen in the wetlands, together with herons, kingfishers, raptors, and caimans. We make our way back to Aymara Lodge in the softer evening light, with time for another walk around the gardens before dinner

  • Transfer Aymara Lodge –> SouthWild Pantanal Lodge

    We leave Aymara Lodge and continue south along the Transpantaneira toward SouthWild Pantanal Lodge. Rather than driving straight through, we make regular photographic stops whenever wildlife or the light catches our attention, taking time to explore the wetlands along the way. After lunch, the journey continues at a relaxed pace, with more opportunities to photograph the rich birdlife and other wildlife that make the Transpantaneira one of the Pantanal’s most rewarding roads. We arrive at SouthWild Pantanal Lodge in the afternoon, with time to settle in and explore the surroundings before dinner.

    We head out early into the waterways of Encontro das Águas State Park, navigating the junctions of the Cuiabá, Três Irmãos, and Piquiri rivers. This remarkable network of rivers is home to the highest known density of wild Jaguars, giving us exceptional opportunities to observe their behaviour in the cooler hours of the day.

  • Exploring the "Parque Estadual Encontro das Águas" (Meeting of the Waters)

    As the light changes, we continue exploring the riverbanks, adapting our route to recent sightings and wildlife activity. Jaguars remain our main focus, but each outing is shaped by what the Pantanal offers—from quiet moments of a cat resting on the bank to more dynamic encounters, alongside Giant Otters, capybaras, caimans, and an abundance of birdlife. Throughout the day, we photograph from our small safari boats, allowing for low-angle perspectives and close engagement with the landscape.

    Today we leave the busier waterways behind and venture into the quieter channels of the Rio São Lourenço. With fewer boats and a slower pace, these remote areas offer a different perspective on the Pantanal, allowing us to explore without rushing from one sighting to the next.

    We continue navigating the São Lourenço River, adapting our route to the day’s wildlife activity. The quieter setting often allows us to spend longer with a single subject, observing natural behaviour with minimal disturbance. Jaguars remain our primary focus, but Giant Otters, tapirs, caimans, and a rich variety of birds all contribute to the rhythm of the afternoon, offering opportunities for thoughtful observation and photography.

    fter a final breakfast in the heart of the wetlands, we begin our return journey along the Transpantaneira. This is a strategic transition; the early morning hours are prime for spotting species that are less active during the midday heat. The Farewell Safari: Keep your gear ready. The drive back to Poconé offers a high probability of documenting the giant anteater, marsh deer, and specialized bird species that frequent the roadside marshes. We will perform tactical stops at key bridges to capture any final wildlife dynamics.

    During the afternoon, we venture onto the tracks surrounding the lodge in search of some of the region’s most iconic wildlife. Giant Anteaters are a particular focus, while Red-legged Seriemas, Greater Rheas, and other inhabitants of the Cerrado grasslands provide rewarding photographic opportunities throughout the softer evening light.

    Our final afternoon at Pequi Lodge is dedicated to exploring the surrounding landscapes once more.
